As Board President, with the majority Board,
- secured passage of Park Ave Renovation bond & regained control of Board majority turning around the failing project;
- spearheaded superintendent search with the Board interviewing all 50+ candidates;
- directed the new Superintendent Dr DeSorbe conduct a comprehensive analysis of the district’s poor academic performance;
- approved hiring Michael Cohen as the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum/Instruction in order to immediately implement a targeted academic turnaround plan;
- led the effort to hire the new administration team that resulted in a two-year, NY State history-making double-digit improvement in assessments across every subject & grade, successfully removing two schools from two "NY State Hit" Lists: In Needs of Improvement & In Need of Restructuring.
Stephannie believes all students can succeed regardless of where they live and what their challenges may be. For heaven’s sake, we pay $43,000 per student PER YEAR!
Ms. Andrews seeks a seat on the Board because she believes that all children will succeed if the Board ensures data-driven decisions with implementation of rigorous academic goals in concert with fiscally sound budgeting. Those who justify poor outcomes do a disservice to the students, the taxpayers & the hardworking staff and School Districts, like families, must live within their means.
